a community garden
garden to table
r.wood studio has a great spot for a garden, we have composted for years so the soil is good and it gets great light; veggies love to grow here. it’s nice to have some fresh organic veggies when you work and also to take home. this year some friends have decided to make our plot into a community garden and offer the produce to people in need of good food.
this weekend we had a cleanup day to get the garden cleaned up, tilled, weeded, and ready for planting. i wanted to share some of my pictures from the day. it was so great to see people from the community come together, all in the spirit of growing food to consume and share.

when dying your easter eggs, use natural dyes. i used beet juice, tumeric, coffee, and tea.
wisteria season
in the country
my new property has a wide swath of wisteria behind the idea shack. it’s beautiful and smells heavenly,but unfortunately,it’s a big tree killer.
you can see from these pics how it wraps around the tree trunks. eventually it either chokes the life out of them or brings them down. many of the trees in the wisteria patch are struggling to stay upright,so we’ll probably rty to get rid of it to save the trees.but for this year,we’ll enjoy its beauty.
ryan and gubby
homes and habitats
angela, or as many know her: gubby, and ryan are two artists and collectors who live and work in atlanta. gubby works for the hudgens center for the arts , and is a long time printmaker and crafter with a line of bags and pillows called gubstuff. ryan works for the animated website HomestarRunner.com, where he edits and prepares cartoons for their various outlets. He also takes on various projects like shooting music videos and designing websites.
together these two make a great husband and wife team in arranging a home composed of vintage and modern collections as well as displaying works by today’s emerging artists.

i found this AMAZING fake fireplace/record player/wet bar at an antiques store in columbia, SC when ryan and i were dating. he quickly rented a truck and brought this treasure home in a hurry
this is the only room in the house that hasn’t been painted by us and we have plans for a new floor and tile backsplash along with new wall color in the near future. i am kind of obsessed with all things kitchen related, even though ryan is the one that does almost all of the cooking. (more…)
