in the movie steel magnolias, dolly parton’s character couldn’t have put it any better by describing sweet tea as “the house wine of the south”. a refreshing drink, especially on those hot and humid summer days which are quickly approaching us.
following is our recipe for sweet tea
ingredients
1 bag of louisiane tea
5-6 sprigs of fresh peppermint (or 2 bags of herbal peppermint tea)
1/4-1 cup sweetener (honey, sugar, agave nectar….) this varies, some like theirs very sweet!
water
1ce
fresh sprigs of mint for garnishing

-put the tea bag and mint into a pitcher
-heat some water to a boil (enough to fill your pitcher)

-pour hot water over tea bag and mint
-steep the tea for 3-4 minutes and remove tea bag, you can leave the mint
-add sweetener to taste
-let cool and then put in fridge for a couple of hours
-serve over ice with a sprig of mint
-consume on the front porch with good company
