charred grilled summer squash with pesto
garden to table
once the summer squash starts growing, there is a constant supply for a good while. one of my favorite ways (and just so happens to be one of the easiest ways) to prepare it is to make a big batch of pesto and throw the squash on the grill.

the allen bathroom, a jewelbox of beauty
homes and habitats
ten years ago, rebecca painted this mural in the bathroom of the allen home. what was once a tiny powder room filled with 60′s-era wallpaper and painted trim, magically became a reflection of the garden just outside it’s vine-encrusted window.
painted in the early spring, it shows, in full bloom, some southern garden favorites: hellebores, japanese magnolia, jessamine, oaxalis, daffodils, and dogwood, with birds nesting in their branches and searching for worms in the soil.
rebecca also stripped and stained the woodwork and custom made the sink. woodworker david graves made the walnut sink counter and toilet accessories.
now, each time a guest is directed to the tiny bathroom under the main stairs, they are forewarned that a surprise lay ahead…a jewelbox of beauty awaits.
