athens underground
instant inspiration

athens is filled with a plethora of creative folks and there is always interesting things in the works…….that’s why i love living here. a couple of years ago a few local chefs opened up an underground supper club and called themselves the four coursemen. it is located in a rustic shotgun which really captures the southern vibe and family style atmosphere.
the current issue (november 2009) of food and wine has done a feature on them, you should check it out!
our friend and local artist susan hable of hable construction styled the dinner and our own beautyeveryday contributor rinne allen took the photographs.

mud
in the country
i don’t remember when we’ve had so much rain. it seems like ever since early september, we can’t go 4 days without getting and inch or two of rain. the ground is so waterlogged and can’t ever get dried out. it’s too wet to drive the tractor, too wet to even walk to the garden. muddy shoes by the back door and wet dogs dying to come in. well, i never regret the rain because it’s keeping our planet livable, but i want a blue sky fall day!
dahlia farm in the fall
homes and habitats
lately, we have had a big change in the weather…….lower temps and lots and lots of rain. we knew that the dahlias were probably enjoying this change.
with a break in the clouds, we made another trip out to our friend’s dahlia farm. the dahlias were exploding with big blooms and intense colors.
i wonder what my day would be like if i had this to wake up to………
our car ride home……
