i spent a long stretch of time in maine this summer, as i have the past 5 summers. i go with my family each year, driving the distance from georgia.
i am continually inspired by its beauty, people, and the life there. this week, i am sharing what i saw.

i learned to love arranging flowers from my mom. mostly we do not do fancy things, we just like to have something fresh from the garden to look at while we are inside, to remind us of what lay beyond. here, my mom began with some dahlias & zinnias from the garden. on sequential days, hikes yielded additions: one day, some rue was added by our friend wendy. the next day, a branch covered in lichen appeared, courtesy of my sister lucy.

at some point, some dried fennel entered the picture. i love how everyone spontaneously contributed to it.

it’s beautiful : )
