for many of us…. holidays and food go hand and hand. it is a time to bring out the heirloom recipes and spend some time in the kitchen.
my friend leslie came back from thanksgiving and shared her mother, marilyn’s recipe for coca-cola baked apples.
coca-cola was born in the south. it is an unlikely ingredient found in many traditional southern dishes- both sweet and savory. to find other recipes using coca-cola click here.
to make marilyn’s coca-cola baked apples:
core apples
put in baking pan
sprinkle with cinnamon
pour a can of coke over apples and into pan
cover with foil
bake at 325 for 1 hour or until falling apart
enjoy alone or with some vanilla ice cream and nuts!

what type of apples would be best?
i am sorry they didn’t turn out for you. i am guessing that it could of been the variety of apples that you used. it is a simple dish and mirrors freshly made apple sauce.
