well, it’s warm today, but it looks like winter.  all the recent wind and rains have taken every last leaf, but now we get to see the tree’s architecture and appreciate their true personality.

plates in kitchen

designer, and Southerner (by way of virginia, and peru!), llubav duerr lives in greenpoint, brooklyn with her family. on a visit to her home this autumn, we were inspired by her artfully displayed collections. we found ourselves walking through her home as if we were in a gallery, taking in the displays and the curated objects. her creative presentation transforms the objects (skeleton keys, tea cups, milkglass vessels) into works of art.

the past several weekends have been so busy and we have spent very little time at home.  this weekend it was rainy and we decided to stay in and spend some time in the kitchen.

we canned some apples and jellies, baked bread, and made some pralines.  pralines are one of my favorite things to give to friends around the holidays.  they are so easy and are one of the true decadent reminders of the south.
