a spring luncheon

instant inspiration

we had a lovely luncheon recently on the sun porch at five & tenhugh and mimi and shae cooked up a feast for some ladies.
we all sat ’round a long table and served up the meal family style, after a starter course of housemade pickles and anitpasti.

{hugh’s  almost famous Boiled Peanut Hummus- yum!}

we set the table with a heavy linen tablecloth, and rebecca hand drew the placecards and menu for our guests. simple r.wood dishes in shades of green sat next to home-dyed linen napkins and old silver. wooden vessels and old cuts of wood from rinne’s studio propped up the earliest of our daffodil blooms and fatsia pods left over from the fall. mahonia flowers and tufts of moss and leaves of fatsia added to the verdancy.

then it was time to eat…

and a cheese course followed…with cheese from sweetgrass and bread from luna:

rinne brought her crate of old glass apothecary bottles and a fistful of daffodils.
rebecca suggested just leaving the bottles in the crate and placing the flowers straight in it…Beauty!

and then, dessert:

les macarons, oh la la.

’twas a nice day with friends and good food.

to see more from our day, visit hugh’s site & also oncewed today.

thank you to all who helped make it great.
