the second of november. KATHRYN REFI
instant inspiration
we have a handful of inspiring people that work at the rwood studio. everyone has their hands in various projects such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, music, comedy, performance art, and writing. we all inspire one another and support one another in our creative endeavors.
on the second of november, one of our artists; kathryn refi is having an opening of her latest project. she will be showing two bodies of work both centered around the day she was born. the first is a group of pastel and charcoal drawings of events that happened the day that she was born. the second is a group of graphite drawings of new york times crossword puzzles that she worked. kathryn noted that there was one year that the paper was not printed due to a printing strike.
through fall’s beauty
in the country
i am not quite sure what it is about the idea shack. it is always so picturesque and the creative energy in and around the shack is really powerful. i spent the day out there the other day with rebecca and our friend hope. i did a series of photos with the idea shack surrounded by all of it’s fall beauty. enjoy!
andalusia, flannery o’connor, and the southern landscape
homes and habitats
late last spring, we all visited andalusia, the home of flannery o’connor, in milledgeville, georgia.
to be honest, we have been sitting with these images since then, pondering when to run them and how. her home is so enchanting, but it is in slight disrepair. it is uncertain about how much of this disrepair she lived in herself, or how much of it has set in since her death.
but, we decided that the images really fit her work and that you should see them.
read one of her books, if you have not already.
then, read some more.
