i recently visited the home of alexander h. stephens, a prominant figure in georgia civil war history, in crawfordville, georgia was redecorated in the late 80′s after much research and investigation into the original fabrics and paint colors. the palette is surprising and fresh, the window treatments novel, and the sparseness inspiring.enjoy-

heavy’s
garden to table
this weekend it was pretty, so i rode out highway 22 west from lexington all the way to the town of crawfordville. there i encountered heavy’s bar-b-que. it’s been around at least 40 years. still serving the basics, slaw, stew, barb-b-que, and sweet potato pie. there’s tons of atmosphere and years worth of calendars on the walls. you can eat your lunch at long pine tables in a cozy room with a fireplace and walls lined with all kinds of taxidermy. you can’t beat it for ambiance and good barb-b-que, too!
