we all know sunflowers are awesome and inspiring, but here’s some pics to show they’re just as beautiful in every stage as they are in full flower. let’s all be like that.

we visited the
this summer. recently made famous by being featured on the cover of the book
, it was an inspiring place to visit.
while browsing in their bookstore though, we found this gem...a new release:
while there is nary a southern house in it (which is a shame), there are beautiful photographs by
of places ranging from
to the esherick house to places in between...
the other day we went and picked some muscadines at a couple's farm out in oconee county. it was the last boiling hot day so we tried to do some quick picking. afterwards we sat with the couple and sipped on sweet tea and some homemade muscadine wine. a good day in the country! i'll post about the wine josh is making soon

this year my husband has taken up the hobby of fly fishing and tying his own flies. it's like making jewelry and the flies are so lovely. take a peek.
i love the mexican sunflowers; how they glow in the sunset and attract the butterflies. here’s some sunflower beauty.
i really love old city buildings and always get really inspired when i see empty ones. we just drove through washington, GA and saw this little cluster of buildings. they are sadly losing a battle with some invasive vines.
we stopped by my favorite in the country farm stand for some farm fresh veggies. i love going here because there are always a couple of farmers sitting at a table shooting the sh*t. probably complaining how hot it is and how much we need the rain.
this barn is decked out with antiques and all of the vegetables are on display. and the barn news is always good.

our good friend amy flurry and partner nikii salk make these amazing accessories entirely from tiny pieces of hand cut paper. this week, they will be taking their paper.cut.project to NY for fashion week. they have designed a series of hand cut masks for designer jen kao. i am sure it will be wonderful and inspiring- i can't wait to see pictures.
here is a little video that shows how they make each piece.
