Saint Roch's cemetery
before heading to new orleans a friend told me to visit the saint roch's cemetery. there are several amazing cemeteries around the city, but this one was special. we visited the grounds on a hot hot and muggy day to check them out.
the tidy cemetery was filled with hundreds of old carved tombs and inside its lovely chapel was a little room where folks have left offerings from answered prayers. the tiny roomed housed hundreds of items including prosthetics, teeth, ceramic limbs, and more and they were arranged on the white walls of the chapel.
a little odd and mysterious...yet lovely.

kinfolk community gathering #2: honey harvest
in the spring, i hosted a flower potluck party on behalf of kinfolk magazine...for the summer community gathering, we will be going to 3 porch farm to celebrate the honey harvest. our farming friends, mandy & steve, will lead a tour of their beautiful farm and talk about beekeeping and honey harvesting. the group will also taste different local honey, make their own herbal-infused honey, and enjoy food & drink made with honey: mead, cookies, and the famous honeypops that 3 porch farm makes themselves.
if you would like to come along to the gathering, you may purchase tickets here.

a book for you
ten years ago, rinne and rebecca had a daydream: to create a book with 365 photographs, one for each day of the year. after many years of thinking and photographing and thinking some more, we are happy to announce that the daydream is now a reality.
thanks in large part to the addition of kristen and the creation of this space, beauty everyday, the three of us were able to gather the imagery that we needed and truly envision the book we wanted to create.
it is with much happiness that we announce that will release our first book, Beauty Everyday, on august 15 of this year.
featuring 365 photographs made by all three of us, in and around athens, georgia, the book has 420 pages of southern beauty: flora, patina, the landscape...the environs that we call home. The deep blue custom-dyed bookcloth cover is the perfect backdrop for rebecca's gilded illustrations. Inside; an index is included with locations or details of each image; and a small bit of text explains our simple process.
the book is intended to be an inspiration, a refuge, a reference.
turn the page each day to reveal something beautiful to look at; take in a whole season at once and revel in the transformations that take place; or just turn to pages at random and look to the index to see where the photograph was made.
a page marker ribbon is included, so that you may mark your place and follow along each day.
we will begin pre-selling the book on this website soon, and, in addition, the book will be available through some of our favorite shops and friends. further details will be announced soon!
Thank you, readers!
