rebecca has just started moving out to her “new pad” and is remembering how little she had when she moved in- just a handful of years ago. she is now finding it hard to believe how many treasures she has acquired in such a small amount of time. whether your style be modern, rustic, country, the south makes it easy to decorate your home, and the fun part is finding things. it is these markets that make our homes be homes; surrounding yourself with things that you love and have a story.
with a plethora of antique, vintage, and flea markets existing in the south; it is no wonder why we collect. not only are there in-town antique markets but the real “finds” are often times found in little towns off of quiet country roads. a couple of weeks ago we were on a sunday drive and found a place called “neat pieces” in carlton GA. with a population of 233 we were a bit surprised to find such a gem of an antique store. neat pieces is owned by a man who has a passion for old things and preserving southern culture. his collections are wonderful. we enjoyed snooping around his many historic buildings, finding old textures, and enjoying the moment.
he also finds old homes and buildings which are either neglected or about to be torn down and collects the wood, windows, doors, and fixtures. the materials are organized neatly behind his shops and used for future building projects. i love the composition and the patterns all of the old materials make while they are stored away awaiting new life.
sharing some inspirations from our day…
