rebecca and rinne have been talking about drayton hall for years. i recently spent a good bit of time in charleston and knew that i had to make it there. now, having visited the lovely plantation i see why. it is one of those gems that has been preserved sustainably and still holds all of it's natural beauty. it hasn't been furnished or decorated to represent any particular era but it has been preserved in it's natural state. it is one of the rare existing structures that shows so much natural, southern beauty and glorifies its actual structure as a piece of art. i know that this will now be a stop each time i visit charleston.photos and words by kristen bach
