an old farmhouse
Driving through the country the other day I saw this sweet old farmhouse. What caught my eye was the irises in full bloom that were still giving this old house life.

violet posey
in my 20's i spent a stretch of time in england...i remember flower-sellers with little violet posies on the street corners in the spring. they are so tiny, but so sweet. in our garden, the violets are popping up and they make the perfect bouquet for a friend.

Pineapple upside down cake
We had a potluck to go to the other night and I made an up-side down cake. This easy to make cake can be made with just about any fruit and is always a crowd pleaser. It was a perfect dessert for a spring dinner in the garden.
I like to serve it up with a little bit of whipped cream or ice cream.

I went for a woods walk Easter morning to see what signs of spring were happening. I found an old downed tree with the most amazing shelf fungi! Take a look -

overgrown
Sometimes you'll pass by an old house that is all but covered in vines and overgrown with trees and shrubs, usually blackberries and honeysuckle. If you can get past the growth, you can take a peek in. Eventually, the whole thing will just fall down and disappear.

roasted baby carrots
I spent a day in the kitchen with Mimi Maumus of Homemade Catering.
Mimi made these wondeful roasted baby carrots from carrots grown at Woodlan Gardens. They were amazing! Thanks Mimi for sharing!
ingredients
1 bunch baby carrots
1 T olive oil
salt & pepper to taste>
1/8 t curry powder
directions
-preheat oven to 475.
-rinse carrots. peel or don't peel - up to you.
-cut carrots in half widthwise if more than 1" thick.
-toss with olive oil and spices.
-place on a baking sheet in a single layer - you don't want the carrots to steam, so give 'em space!
-roast for 5 minutes and then broil for a few minutes to color.
-the carrots should have a little snap to them still.

embroidery projects
I discovered disappearing ink at the fabric store. It's the perfect thing to draw some quince onto this hemp linen skirt panel. Draw, and then stitch!

Old Store
We came across this old country store. stores like this used to be one every little community. It's where you got your feed for horses and men, cornmeal, coffee, and liniment for aching muscles, or some penny candy. This one has a farm stand next to it. Disappearing markers of days gone by.
